In addition to reducing costs for students through open textbooks, BCcampus Open Education facilitates an improved learning environment for instructors and students by encouraging open textbook authors to follow Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to improve accessibility for all students. Detailed information about UDL and accessibility can be found in the Accessibility Toolkit – 2nd Edition.

It is the goal of BCcampus to ensure that as many books as possible in the B.C. Open Textbook Collection are accessible. These books are tagged with an “Accessible” flag and fulfill the requirements noted on the Checklist for Accessibility.
