Indigenous goal of living \u2018a good life\u2019 is sometimes referred to \u2026 as striving \u2018to always think the highest thought\u2019\u2026 Thinking the highest thought means thinking of one\u2019s self, one\u2019s community, and one\u2019s environment \u2018richly\u2019 \u2013 essentially, a spiritual mindset in which one thinks in the highest, most respectful, and most compassionate way, thus systemically influencing the actions of both individuals and the community.\r\n\r\n\u2013 Gregory Cajete (2000, p. 276)<\/blockquote>\r\n<div class=\"textbox textbox--learning-objectives\"><header class=\"textbox__header\">\r\n<p class=\"textbox__title\">Purpose of this section<\/p>\r\n\r\n<\/header>\r\n<div class=\"textbox__content\">\r\n\r\nThis section provides an overview of the values in an Indigenous worldview, including:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Land and traditional territory<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Elders<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Language<\/li>\r\n \t<li>The learning spirit<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nThis section also includes Indigenized integral competency self-assessment to help us acknowledge these values in services and supports for Indigenous students, Indigenous staff, and Indigenous community partnerships.\r\n\r\nThis section will take four hours to complete as you\u2019ll be conducting a self-assessment\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\nBy understanding and acknowledging Indigenous principles of holism and inter-relatedness, we can:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Understand the importance of land to Indigenous self-identity<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Recognize the roles of Elders in service delivery<\/li>\r\n \t<li>See how revitalizing and using Indigenous languages creates transformative spaces<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>","rendered":"<blockquote><p>The Indigenous goal of living
