Conduct Initial Assessment and Develop a Work Plan<\/h1>\r\nUsing the <a href=\"\/publishingstyleguide\/chapter\/initial-assessment\/\">Initial Assessment<\/a> checklist:\r\n<ol>\r\n \t<li>Create a list of style decisions that should be applied throughout the book. This includes things like capitalization, textboxes, numbering, and image alignment choices.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Create a list of elements that need revision.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Create a list of questions that need to be passed back to the author.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<h1>3. Apply Fixes Identified During the Initial Assessment<\/h1>\r\nNote that you might not catch everything during the initial assessment. This list should be amended as you go through the book in more detail.\r\n<h1>4. Review PDF Exports<\/h1>\r\nExport and review the Print PDF and Digital PDF files for quality. Pay particular attention to:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Display of images. Are they clear and legible? Is text wrapping properly? Are they sized appropriately?<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Display of tables. Are any stretching off the page?<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Links. Are URLs for links to external websites being inserted in the Print PDF?<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Math content. Is it displaying as expected? Are there any error messages?<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Page breaks. Are pages breaking in logical spots? If not, there may be a CSS fix.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h1>5. Fill Out Metadata and Create Cover<\/h1>\r\nUsing <a href=\"\/publishingstyleguide\/chapter\/metadata-and-book-info\/\">Metadata and Book Info<\/a> page as a reference, fill out the metadata fields on the Book Info page in Pressbooks. This may require consulting with the author(s) to get all of the correct information.\r\n\r\nIn addition, you will need to get a cover created and upload:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Check with the author(s) to determine the book's title and what open image they would like to feature on the cover.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Submit a cover creation request to SFU Document Solutions (procedures in <a href=\"https:\/\/bccampusca.sharepoint.com\/sites\/OpenEducation\/SitePages\/Request-a-BCcampus-textbook-cover.aspx\">SharePoint: Create a BCcampus textbook cover<\/a>\u00a0- note this link is accessible to BCcampus staff only)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h1>6.
