You may prioritize based on time, importance, and complexity.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-procrastination\">Procrastination<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>A\u00a0delayment\u00a0in the process of completing accumulating tasks and attending to a growing list of responsibilities. This notion results in a snowball effect of stress, pressure, and negative outcomes.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-proofreading\">Proofreading<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>Updating your writing to ensure it is free of grammar, spelling, typos and other minor writing errors.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-purpose\">Purpose<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>The reason why you are writing. Purpose focuses on action. Some common purposes for writing are to request information, to provide information, to make a complaint or to persuade.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-reference\">Reference<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>People who support your candidacy in a job by talking about you with your potential employer after an interview has taken place<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-reflection\">Reflection<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>A process of reviewing and documenting that enables an individual to learn from their previous trials and errors, their faults, and their experiences.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-reflective-practice\">Reflective Practice<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>The ability to spend time to assess situations and our participation to inform learning and future behaviours.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-revision\">Revision<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>The process of editing or refining your written work before you share it with your intended audience.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-routine\">Routine<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>A set sequence of actions that provide structure, improve time utilization, and enhance work quality.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-sds\">SDS<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>Safety Data Sheets, sometimes referred to as MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets). STAR format is a structure you can use for responding to an interview question.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-state\">State<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>The particular condition that someone or something is in at a specific time.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-stress\">Stress<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>An internal bodily response to initiate the need to prepare and take on a challenging situation.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-supervisor\">Supervisor<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>According to WorkSafeBC, a supervisor \u201cis a person who instructs, directs, and controls workers in the performance of their duties. A supervisor can be any worker \u2013 management or staff \u2013 who meets this definition, whether or not [they] have the supervisor title. If someone in the workplace has a supervisor\u2019s responsibilities, that person is responsible for worker health and safety\u201d (WorkSafeBC, 2021a).<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-time-management\">Time management<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>How you use your time and spread it out across different parts of your life.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-tone\">Tone<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>The way you sound to your audience. It summarizes the attitude of your writing. Professional writing tone typically is direct, confident, sincere, and positive.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-trait\">Trait<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>A personal or professional attribute, when viewed positively this can give a worker an advantage in their task completion process.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-transactional-communication\">Transactional communication<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>The process of two-way communication.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-verbal-communication\">Verbal Communication<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>\u201cany type of interaction that makes use of spoken words\u201d including answering the phone, personal discussions, staff meetings, presentations, and informal conversations (Inc., 2020).<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-whmis\">WHMIS<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>An abbreviation for Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, which is the system for providing information about chemicals used in the workplace. This information should be provided through product labels, material safety data sheets (MSDS), and worker education programs. (CCOHS, 2021)<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-wil-work-integrated-learning\">WIL (work-integrated learning)<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>Methods of integrating what is learned in the classroom to real-world experience.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-worksafe-bc\">WorkSafe BC<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>The provincial organization that governs work safety in British Columbia. Each province and territory have a designated agency.
