Collections and Open Textbooks

52 May an open textbook be sold?

Yes, an open textbook may be sold. There are no restrictions on charging for an open textbook or other OER unless NC (NonCommercial) is part of its licence. And even then, it is permissible and standard practice to charge for cost recovery (printed costs of the book + basic overhead).

For more information, see Licences and Tools in the Self-Publishing Guide.
