Formerly known as the Open Textbook Summit, the Cascadia Open Education Summit is typically scheduled in April or May and has occurred every two years during odd-numbered years since the first summit in 2013. The event’s name changed in 2019.

The latest Cascadia Open Education Summit was held in April 2021 and was entirely virtual.

During alternate, even-numbered years, the Open Education stream of the Festival of Learning takes the place of the Cascadia Open Education Summit.
