The open access monograph publishing program was conceived in 2014 as a means of publishing open access books that were relevant to the study and practice of theological librarianship. Currently the mission of the program is publication of open access works on subjects at the intersection of librarianship and religious and theological studies that potentially impact libraries.

Atla (American Theological Library Association) is a membership association of librarians and information professionals, and a producer of research tools, committed to advancing the study of religion and theology.

Cornell Open (CC BY-NC-ND)

An open access portal for both new and classic out-of-print titles from the distinguished catalog of Cornell University Press. Cornell Open offers open access to key titles in the fields of anthropology, classics, political science, literary criticism and theory, German studies, and Slavic studies.

Directory of Open Access Books (Various CC licences)

A collection of over 19,000 academic peer-reviewed books and chapters.

IntechOpen (Various CC licences)

A collection of over 3,700 peer-reviewed open access books in physical sciences, engineering, technology, life sciences, health sciences, social sciences, and humanities available for download as PDFs.

Iowa State University Digital Press: Open Textbooks (Various CC licences)

The Iowa State University Digital Press, a unit of the Iowa State University Library, aims to publish high quality scholarship in areas reflected in Iowa State’s curricular and research offerings, tell stories of Iowa and the Midwest, and diversify the voices in the scholarly record.

JSTOR – Open Access Books (Various CC and other licences)

More than 6,500 Open Access ebooks from 85+ publishers, including Brill, Cornell University Press, De Gruyter, and University of California Press, are now available at no cost to libraries or users.

Kansas State University Open Access Textbooks (Various CC licences)

This collection contains about two dozen open access textbooks. These items are currently being used to support higher education at Kansas State University (KSU).

OAPEN (Various CC licences)

The OAPEN Library contains freely accessible academic books, mainly in the area of humanities and social sciences.

Open Books (CC BY)

This collection is compiled from readers’ orders for scans, principally in black and white and some in colour. They highlight the range of resources at The University of Edinburgh’s Centre for Research Collections, from Herschel’s music manuscripts, to ‘An Essay on the Character and Cerebral Development of Robert Burns,’ to Charles Lyell’s handwritten notes.
